Since starting at Skole Childcare in 2011, I spent most of time in the 0-2 age group as the Room Leader – which was very rewarding. However at the start of 2016 I was keen for a change and to work with a new age group, so I moved to the preschool room. The beginning of 2017 gave me new challenges as I moved into a 2IC role and then from May 2017 I moved into a Centre Director position. I absolutely love this role and have enjoyed learning many new skills about managing a service, mentoring and guiding a team of Educators and office administration.

Inspired by the principles of holistic development and cultural responsiveness, we provide a nurturing environment where every child’s unique strengths, interests, and cultural backgrounds are celebrated and honored. Through play-based learning experiences and meaningful connections with families and communities, we empower children to explore, inquire, and express themselves confidently. Our commitment to Te Whāriki ensures that children at Growing Roots develop a strong sense of identity, well-being, and belonging, laying the groundwork for a lifetime of joyful learning and discovery.

Approch

At Growing Roots Daycare Center, our approach to early childhood education is deeply inspired by the principles of the renowned Reggio Emilia philosophy. We believe in fostering a learning environment where children are viewed as capable, curious individuals who are actively engaged in constructing their understanding of the world. Through child-led exploration, collaborative projects, and rich sensory experiences, we empower children to express themselves creatively, develop critical thinking skills, and build meaningful connections with their peers and surroundings. Our commitment to documentation and reflection ensures that children’s learning journeys are celebrated and shared, promoting a sense of belonging and pride in their achievements. With a focus on nurturing each child’s unique interests and talents, we strive to cultivate a lifelong love of learning and a strong foundation for future success.
